Our scope

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 requires 'responsible authorities' i.e. Local Authority, Police, Police Authority, Health, Fire Service to co-operate and collaborate in order to:

Together with other partner agencies, the 'responsible authorities' form a "Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership" (CDRP), described locally as the East Riding of Yorkshire Safe Communities Partnership.

The Partnership works together to reduce the incidence of crime and disorder, tackle the underlying causes and achieve a permanent improvement to the quality of life in our local community.

The Government White Paper » "Building Communities, Beating Crime", published in November 2004 set out a vision for continuous improvements in policing through the effective partnership working of CDRPs.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Safe Communities Partnership is also part of the larger Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). Founded in 2001, the East Riding of Yorkshire LSP is comprised of 130 key local organisations from the public, private, community and voluntary sectors. Its key function is to develop and deliver a plan for the ongoing sustainable development of the local area. For more information, please follow this link below to the LSP website: LSP Website
