Useful Definitions

Anti Social Behaviour Group

ASB stands for Anti-Social Behaviour. This group develops policy and strengthens inter-agency working to deliver the ASB targets from the Crime and Drugs Strategy.

Community Cohesion Forum

Building a cohesive community in the East Riding of Yorkshire with its rural environment, isolated, dispersed and diverse communities with their own complexities, offers a real challenge for all of us. The Community Cohesion Forum works to develop communities that are welcoming and fair to everyone, based on mutual respect for diverse cultures, nationalities, backgrounds and circumstances and a willingness to share our knowledge, experience, and values.

Safer and Stronger Communities Action Group (SSCAG)

The SSCAG is the strategic body of the CDRP. It meets each quarter to bring together statutory and key agencies to deliver the aims and objectives of the target areas. It must also update the LSP Board on the progress made against these targets and agree strategies and plans for the reduction of crime, disorder, the misuse of drugs and youth offending.

Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP)

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 requires 'responsible authorities' i.e. Local Authority, Police, Police Authority, Health, Fire Service to co-operate and collaborate in order to:

  • Prepare a strategic assessment at least once a year.
  • Prepare and implement a three year rolling partnership plan, that will be updated each year.
  • Engage with communities.

Together with other partner agencies, the 'responsible authorities' form a "Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership" (CDRP), described locally as the East Riding of Yorkshire Safe Communities Partnership. The Partnership works together to reduce the incidence of crime and disorder, tackle the underlying causes and achieve a permanent improvement to the quality of life in our local community.

Drug and Alcohol Strategy Group

This group develops the Adult Drug Treatment Plan, monitors its delivery and manages the purchasing of drug treatment services.

Neighbourhood Action Teams (NATs)

NATs are action orientated forums, which help the police to tackle the local community's priorities in relation to crime, disorder and the misuse of drugs. There are 15 NATs in the East Riding which reflect the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) areas.

Youth Offending Team Management Board

YOT stands for Youth Offending Team. On five occasions during the year the membership of the SSCAG is expanded to include a representative of Children, Family and Adult Services. This group performs the role of the management board for the YOT.
