Vehicle crime

Tackling vehicle crime is a priority objective in the East Riding and is being effectively tackled through the partnership approach.

Strategic targets to be achieved by 2007/08:

To reduce theft or unauthorised taking of vehicles, including attempts, by 12%.
To reduce theft from vehicles by 18%.
To reduce vehicle interference by 3%.
To increase detection rate for vehicle crime offences.
To reduce deliberate vehicle fires by 17%.

Progress towards these targets is monitored through the local 'Police Recorded Crime Figures' and 'Fire and Rescue Service data.'
