Violent Crime

Violent crime leaflets

The chance that you or a member of your family will be a victim of violent crime is LOW. Violent crimes are still comparatively rare and account for a very small part of recorded crime especially in the East Riding. The total number of violence against a person crimes for 2008/09 was 3770 which was a 5.5% reduction on the previous year. The rate per 1000 population for the East Riding is 11 whilst for England and Wales it is 16.

The partnership is currently looking at reducing:

Assault with injury crime rate
Repeat incidents of domestic violence
Repeat presentations of domestic violence to the Police
Repeat presentations of domestic violence to the Domestic Violence Accomodation Project (DVAP)

Progress towards these targets is monitored through the local 'Police Recorded Crime Figures' and 'Fire and Rescue Service data.'
